About Us

In my pre-mama life I was always in search of the coolest-this or the hottest-that. I worked in the Manhattan garment industry since the early 90's, and my friends and I would obsess over the different styles each season. But when my girlfriends began having kids, their energy shifted from dressing themselves to dressing their children. I didn't quite understand the obsession until the birth of our first daughter in 2005, when I quickly realized how hard it was to find cool clothes for kids.

I was forced to shop in Manhattan or L.A. (when I traveled there for work) if I wanted to find anything edgy and fun. But my passion for fashion was all worth it when people would stop me on the street to ask where I got my daughter's outfit, her shoes, my diaper bag, or whatever we had that day.

In 2006, Pumpkins and Petunias was born out of that passion for finding hip, well-designed, out of the ordinary products for kids and their mamas. I figured that not everyone had the same opportunities to find great clothes for their kids, and it would be cool if I could help to make their quests easier. The store opened in Westfield, NJ and was an immediate hit. I got to meet a lot of suburban mamas, and was excited to find that they all shared my passion.
